113 to go: Addition by Subtraction

By Governor X

The Dodgers lost two of three over the weekend to St. Louis, but the real news was off the field. The Dodgers got much much better.

Gone:

Nomar - Sent to the 60 day DL. A stint on the 60 day DL with a strained calf? Take the hint and retire Nomar. The Blake DeWitt era is here to stay.

AndrEw - After inexplicably trying to avoid surgery, the Dodgers and Jones relented and put fatty on the DL. To go out in style, he appeared as a pinch hitter Saturday night and struck out with the go ahead run on.

Esteban Loaiza - DFA. Two partial seasons, two wins, six losses, and an ERA of nearly seven. All this for the low low price of $7.67 million. Nice pick-up Ned.

Here:

Clayton Kershaw - The Dodgers' 20 year old version of christ incarnate was called up to replace Loaiza and made his MLB debut Sunday. Six innings, two runs, and a no-decision...not to shabby.

The AndrEw Jones Watch

Series with St. Louis: 0 for 1, 1K
Current BA: .165
Ks: 45 in 43 games

With his stint on the DL, it is highly unlikely he will finish with more Ks than BA points. Therefore, The AndrEw Jones Watch is placed on the indefinite DL.
